Dewatering filter
The ALSI Check Mark dewatering filter is a kind of gravity, single or dual vacuum filter with a continuous conveyor belt supporting a layer of media. Dirty solution is pumped, or gravity fed, through an inlet header or chute (located above the liquid pool). Once discharged through the chute into the open area, the velocity of the sludge slows down, creating a gentle pool on top of the media. A pressure differential draws the sludge through the filter media, allowing the solid material to create a cake on top of the media. The “dirt” (cake build-up) then allows entrapment of progressively smaller particulate. The cake then becomes the filtering medium.

The system remains on-stream during the indexing cycle so there is never an interruption of sludge flow. At a predetermined sludge level, the indexing cycle allows the introduction of fresh media. At the same time, the spent media and cake emerge from the pool.

A moving flat seal is attached to the flat wire conveyor belt. The filter meida lies flat on the conveyor belt and on top of the moving seal. A stainless steel seal spring and stationary UHMW sea (attached to the filter side sheet) applies a slight downward pressure on the filter media against the moving seal. This creates an effective barrier, assuring that the filter media traps all contaminant and minimizes sludge migration around sides of moving conveyor.
